 It is vinified on its own to produce the DOC of the same name. More often, however, it is blended with other local varieties to produce a number of highly prized wines, either with invented names or with the IGT (Typical Geographic Indication) appellation. Monica is a DOC wine that it best consumed when still young, which is when its characteristic aroma is at its best.

Colour: ruby red tending toward garnet.
Aroma: assertive, laced with notes of red-berry jam; vegetal, heady and fruit-driven.
Palate: dry, slightly acidic, flavoursome, smooth and well-bodied.
Serving temperature:
18 - 20° C
Alcohol level: 12.5 - 13.5 % vol.
Matching: pairs up perfectly with soups and (red and white) meat-based dishes.
Sizes: 0.75 cl
